Curriculum Update
We are excited to announce an update to our Marine Survey curriculum. We are revising and expanding the content we cover in classroom during the first week of our intensive three-week course to include more in-depth instruction in systems and electrical issues, corrosion investigation, thermal imaging, and modern composite construction methods. To fit in this new content without increasing the length of the course, we are moving the ABYC Standards Certification exam prep into a standalone program.
The ABYC Standards Certification is not a prerequisite for participating in the Marine Survey program, but it is required by SAMS before applying for membership, so we recommend completing it either before or soon after the Marine Survey program. We teach it as a three day, in person class over the summer, or it can be taken online directly from ABYC. The Standards Certification class includes a study guide testing fees, and costs $1050. The ABYC’s online offering can be found here: https://abycinc.org/events/certification-courses/marine-standards-certification/
